Het fungeert als een &#039;idee\u00ebnbank&#039; voor de Groep van Twintig Landen (G20) door denktanks en hooggeplaatste experts samen te brengen om beleidsvraagstukken te bespreken die relevant zijn voor de G20. Het is dan ook belangrijk dat de preventie van verkeersongevallen is opgenomen in de Duurzame Ontwikkelingsdoelen. De wereldwijde opdracht om de verkeersveiligheid te verbeteren is met name cruciaal voor de G20-landen, die verantwoordelijk zijn voor 59 procent van alle verkeersdoden wereldwijd en die zowel tot de best presterende als de slechtst presterende landen ter wereld behoren. Het niet naleven van minimale veiligheidsnormen voor voertuigen en wegen draagt in grote mate bij aan verkeersongevallen, en veel G20-landen zijn nog ver verwijderd van de beste praktijken. Het wordt aanbevolen dat de G20-landen minimale veiligheidsvoorschriften invoeren voor alle nieuwe en gebruikte voertuigen, nieuwe en bestaande wegen en infrastructuur, conform de aanbevelingen in de VN-doelstellingen voor wereldwijde verkeersveiligheid en het wereldwijde actieplan voor het decennium van verkeersveiligheid 2021-2030.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"et-button\" href=\"https:\/\/t20ind.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/T20_PB_TF6_657_SDGsForRoadSafet.pdf\">Lees de volledige beleidsnota.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>India bekleedt in 2023 het voorzitterschap van de G20 en T20.
