{"id":38663,"date":"2020-06-22T05:15:28","date_gmt":"2020-06-22T05:15:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.irap.org\/?p=38663"},"modified":"2020-08-07T01:15:19","modified_gmt":"2020-08-07T01:15:19","slug":"final-project-planning-underway-on-tasmanias-midland-highway-as-part-of-10-year-500-million-upgrade-to-minimum-3-star-ausrap-safety-rating","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/2020\/06\/final-project-planning-underway-on-tasmanias-midland-highway-as-part-of-10-year-500-million-upgrade-to-minimum-3-star-ausrap-safety-rating\/","title":{"rendered":"Definitieve projectplanning aan de gang op de Midland Highway in Tasmani\u00eb als onderdeel van een upgrade naar een minimale AusRAP-veiligheidsclassificatie van 3 sterren"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.4.5&#8243; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.midlandhighway.tas.gov.au\/\">Midland Highway<\/a> Final Stages will deliver safety upgrades to the remaining five sections of the Midland Highway, totalling around 54 kilometres in length.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a vital road network and freight corridor, and these major upgrades will provide a safer and more pleasant driving experience for locals, tourists and freight operators, as well as reduce travel times.<\/p>\n<p>Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Michael Ferguson, highlighted how the Australian and Tasmanian Governments are investing $500 million to upgrade the Midland Highway to a minimum 3-star <a href=\"http:\/\/ausrap.aaa.asn.au\/\">AusRAP<\/a> Safety Rating along the key north-south corridor, with the Australian Government committing $400 million and the Tasmanian Government committing $100 million.<\/p>\n<p>To date, 16 projects have been completed and four projects are currently under construction.<\/p>\n<p>Over the first two weeks of June, Community consultation was opened on concept designs for the final projects to be delivered under the Midland Highway 10 Year Action Plan.
