TanRAP is een van de belangrijkste mijlpalen van de Tienstappenplan voor een veiliger wegeninfrastructuurproject.,<\/a> Het doel is om de institutionele capaciteit in het land te versterken en bij te dragen aan de inspanningen van de Tanzaniaanse overheid om het aantal verkeersslachtoffers en -doden te verminderen, in lijn met het mondiale actieplan voor verkeersveiligheid 2021-2030.<\/p>\n

Op 14 september 2022 kwamen de financierende en ondersteunende organisaties van TanRAP bijeen in Dar es Salaam om de lancering van het project te vieren. De bijeenkomst werd voorgezeten door de heer Atupele Mwakibete, de onderminister van Transport van het Ministerie van Openbare Werken en Transport. Gezamenlijk gefinancierd door de\u00a0Fonds voor verkeersveiligheid van de Verenigde Naties (UNRSF)<\/a>\u00a0en door de Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken en Ontwikkelingssamenwerking (UKAid)<\/a>, via de\u00a0Wereldwijde verkeersveiligheidsfaciliteit (GRSF)<\/a>\u00a0van de Wereldbank<\/a>, Het Tienstappenplan Tanzania is een project van 30 maanden dat is ontworpen om te voldoen aan de specifieke behoeften van Tanzania en om duurzame institutionele capaciteit, impact en partnerschappen op te bouwen. Onder begeleiding van de Economische Commissie van de Verenigde Naties voor Afrika (UNECA)<\/a> Het project wordt uitgevoerd door een consortium onder leiding van de Internationale Wegfederatie (IRF)<\/a>, en omvat de International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP)<\/a>, de Wereldwegenvereniging (PIARC)<\/a> en de Tanzaniaanse Wegenvereniging (TARA)<\/a>. Het project heeft de regering van Tanzania samengebracht via MoWT<\/a>, TANROADS<\/a>, TARURA<\/a>, Nationaal Instituut voor Transport (NIT)<\/a>, en andere toonaangevende instellingen, ngo's en belanghebbenden uit het bedrijfsleven in Tanzania.\u00a0<\/p>\n
