Het cruciale werk om verkeersslachtoffers te be\u00ebindigen \u2013 de belangrijkste doodsoorzaak voor jongeren wereldwijd \u2013 kan geen slachtoffer worden van de oorlog in Oekra\u00efne.<\/p>\n<p>De Alliantie heeft de volgende verklaring van bezorgdheid gepubliceerd:<\/p>\n<p><em>Het maatschappelijk middenveld kijkt naar de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/76\/event\/high-level-meeting-on-global-road-safety\/\">Hoge vergadering inzake verkeersveiligheid<\/a> in New York in juni 2022 met een even grote dosis enthousiasme als hoop. We hopen dat de High-level Meeting de weg zal effenen voor echt leiderschap, toewijzing van middelen en implementatie van acties om dit doel te bereiken.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>Echter, de rampzalige oorlog in Oekra\u00efne geeft aanleiding tot grote bezorgdheid over de kansen op succesvolle onderhandelingen over de verklaring van de High-level Meeting. Het lijkt zeer waarschijnlijk dat een groot aantal lidstaten van de Verenigde Naties terughoudend zal zijn om deel te nemen aan een dialoog onder leiding van de Russische Missie bij de VN, en dat we de kans zullen missen om een krachtige en verenende tekst te onderhandelen die zo dringend nodig is om de Second Decade of Action momentum te geven.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Al meer dan tien jaar speelde de Russische Federatie een constructieve en leidende rol binnen de Verenigde Naties op de agenda voor verkeersveiligheid wereldwijd. Echter, door de invasie van Oekra\u00efne, die veroordeling heeft ontvangen van de meerderheid van de Algemene Vergadering van de VN, heeft Rusland elke geloofwaardigheid verspeeld om de leiding te nemen over een belangrijk onderwerp van de wereldwijde volksgezondheid. Wij dringen er bij de Russische Federatie op aan om vrijwillig terug te treden uit haar huidige onderhandelingsrol. Als alternatief kan worden overwogen dat Zweden deze verantwoordelijkheid zou kunnen delen met Ivoorkust, gezien het succes van de derde wereldministeri\u00eble conferentie over verkeersveiligheid in Stockholm in februari 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We moeten een weg vooruit vinden.
