In het kader van de SABRINA \u2013 Veiligere fietsroutes in het Donaugebied<\/strong><\/a> In het kader van het project werd in samenwerking met iRAP een online training georganiseerd. De deelnemers, afkomstig van de partnerorganisaties en relevante belanghebbenden, woonden de tweedaagse workshop bij en maakten kennis met de veiligheid van de weginfrastructuur en het iRAP-model, met een focus op de veiligheid van fietsers.<\/p>\n

Het SABRINA-project richt zich op de veiligheid van de weginfrastructuur voor fietsers, een van de meest kwetsbare weggebruikers. Het project pakt veiligheidsproblemen aan op bestaande, geplande en ontbrekende fietsroutes die negen landen in de Donau-regio doorkruisen. Het doel is om de veiligheid van de fietsinfrastructuur in de regio te verbeteren door de capaciteit van alle relevante nationale, regionale en lokale belanghebbenden te vergroten om op een veilige en duurzame manier fietsinfrastructuur aan te leggen en te verbeteren.<\/p>\n

Verkeersveiligheid is een cruciaal vraagstuk dat moet worden aangepakt om de veiligheid van alle weggebruikers te garanderen. Het iRAP-model gebruikt gegevens over de kenmerken van een weg, straat of pad om het risico op ongevallen voor voertuigen, motorrijders, voetgangers en fietsers te evalueren.<\/p>\n

Tijdens het eerste deel van het webinar, Morgan Fletcher, teamleider van het Latijns-Amerikaanse en Caribische operationele team binnen iRAP,<\/strong> Deelnemers werden ge\u00efntroduceerd in de wereld van veilige systemen en de veiligheid van de weginfrastructuur. "Elke dag komen er wereldwijd 3.500 mensen om het leven bij verkeersongevallen. Verkeersongevallen zijn de belangrijkste doodsoorzaak voor mensen tussen de 5 en 29 jaar. Daarnaast lopen er dagelijks ongeveer 100.000 mensen levensveranderende verwondingen op in het verkeer. ... Het verbeteren van de verkeersveiligheid is de belangrijkste factor die we kunnen bereiken om verkeersslachtoffers te verminderen. ... Het is van cruciaal belang dat we geloven in veilige mobiliteit. ... Het vereist meer dan alleen het aanleggen van meer wegen om de verkeersdoorstroming te verbeteren, reistijden te verkorten, operationele kosten te verlagen, enzovoort. Veiligheid is vaak op de achtergrond geraakt; het werd gezien als een luxe die je later kunt regelen. Maar in feite moet veiligheid de allerbelangrijkste factor zijn waarmee we rekening houden bij de ontwikkeling van ons transportsysteem."\u201c<\/p>\n

Jigesh Bhavsar, technisch manager in IndiaRAP,<\/strong> iRAP werd in een mondiale context gepresenteerd. Verontrustende statistieken gebaseerd op iRAP's Vaccins voor Wegen<\/a> Uit gegevens blijkt dat wereldwijd 86% van de wegen slechts 1 of 2 sterren hebben voor fietsers (van de maximaal 5 sterren). Onderzoek toont aan dat het risico op overlijden of ernstig letsel ongeveer halveert voor elke verbetering in de sterrenwaardering. Om te begrijpen hoe sterrenwaardering in de praktijk werkt, demonstreerde Jigesh het praktische gebruik van de online tool van iRAP, genaamd Sterbeoordelingsdemonstrator<\/a> die gratis beschikbaar is op de website van iRAP. We hebben een geselecteerd weggedeelte met gemengd verkeer in Sloveni\u00eb beoordeeld met sterren. De deelnemers werden ook aangemoedigd om de Demonstrator zelf uit te proberen en geselecteerde weggedeelten met sterren te beoordelen.<\/p>\n

Het tweede deel van de workshop was nog meer gericht op fietsers. Monica Olyslagers, Global Innovation Manager en stedenspecialist bij iRAP, <\/strong>presenteerde de fietsveiligheid en de nieuwe CycleRAP-model<\/a>. CycleRAP is een specifiek model voor de evaluatie van de veiligheid van fietsen en lichte mobiliteit. Het identificeert locaties met een hoog risico en levert gegevens die helpen om ongevallen te verminderen en de veiligheid van de infrastructuur voor deze vervoerswijzen te verbeteren. Monica liet zien hoe het model in de praktijk kan worden gebruikt. Het CycleRAP-model kan zelfstandig worden gebruikt of in combinatie met andere RAP-modellen en -tools en andere risico-evaluatiemethoden. Het kan ook worden gecombineerd met Sterbeoordeling voor scholen<\/a> model, dat werd gepresenteerd door Rafaela Machado, mondiale co\u00f6rdinator van Star Rating for Schools.<\/strong> Dit model richt zich op voetgangers en hun veiligheid, maar kan ook worden gecombineerd met CycleRAP. Dit levert ons gegevens op over hoe veilig het is voor kinderen om te voet of met de fiets van en naar school te gaan en biedt beleidsmakers en relevante belanghebbenden de nodige informatie voor infrastructurele verbeteringen en daarmee een betere verkeersveiligheid voor kinderen en andere weggebruikers.<\/p>\n
