{"id":2902,"date":"2021-11-04T01:53:23","date_gmt":"2021-11-03T14:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/nova-dutra-concession-auctions-with-irap-safety-metric\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T12:38:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T02:38:16","slug":"nova-dutra-concession-auctions-with-irap-safety-metric","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/nova-dutra-concession-auctions-with-irap-safety-metric\/","title":{"rendered":"Veilingen concession Nova Dutra met iRAP veiligheidsnorm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most important highways in Brazil, the Nova Dutra Concession linking Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, has successfully auctioned with an iRAP safety metric and investments of $2.73 billion to modernize and improve the safety of the road.<\/p>\n<p>The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) will promote connectivity and access and is part of the International Finance Corporation\u2019s (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifc.org\/\">IFC<\/a>) advisory mandate to structure and tender 10 road concessions of crucial importance for the country, totalling more than 6,000 km.<\/p>\n<p>The BR-116\/RJ\/SP Concession is 402 km long and connects the two largest metropolitan regions. It is the main link between the Northeast and the South of the country, crossing 34 cities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/grupoccroficial\/\">CCR S.A<\/a>. won the auction with an upfront fee of $322 million.<\/p>\n<p>The project is under the responsibility of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.epl.gov.br\/\">EPL &#8211; Empresa de Planejamento e Log\u00edstica S.A<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.infraestrutura.gov.br\/\">Minist\u00e9rio da Infraestrutura<\/a> and Agencia Nacional de Transportes Terrestres (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.br\/ANTT\">ANTT<\/a>), and has the financial support of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalinfrafacility.org\/\">Global Infrastructure Facility<\/a> and PSPInfra, a partnership between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iadb.org\/en\/about-us\/overview\">Inter-Amerikaanse Ontwikkelingsbank<\/a>, Brazilian Development Bank (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bndes.gov.br\/wps\/portal\/site\/home\">BNDES<\/a>) and IFC to improve the offer of public services through the development of infrastructure projects in Brazil in partnership with \u00a0the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>The news follows the May announcement by the Brazilian Minister for Infrastructure of the first incorporation of iRAP as a road safety metric on a federal road, with consortium EcoRodovias\/GLP the winner of the R $14 billion contract on the BR-153 over 35 years.<\/p>\n<p>During the fiscal year 2021, IFC mobilized $960 million in Public-Private Partnerships in Brazil. <a href=\"https:\/\/pressroom.ifc.org\/all\/pages\/PressDetail.aspx?ID=26583\">The projects<\/a> are supporting key infrastructure sectors in the country, such as transport, energy and sanitation.<\/p>\n<p>Working together,<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/project\/innovation-social-impact-investment\/\"> impact investment<\/a> has the potential to unlock the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaccinesforroads.org\/business-case-for-safer-roads\/\">Business Case voor Veiliger Wegen<\/a> en duurzame ontwikkeling financieren in het land, wat economische groei en verbeterde gezondheidsresultaten bevordert.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaccinesforroads.org\/irap-big-data-tool\/\">iRAP's Big Data Tool voor Vaccins voor Wegen<\/a>, with widespread application of low-cost maintenance safety treatments, well-targeted investment in infrastructure upgrades and safer speeds across Brazil\u2019s road network, an estimated 13,708 lives can be saved every year if Target 3 is met.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/IFC-PPP-image.jpg\" alt=\"IFC PPP image\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Images source: IFC LinkedIn<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the most important highways in Brazil, the Nova Dutra Concession linking Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, has successfully auctioned with an iRAP safety metric and investments of $2.73 billion to modernize and improve the safety of the road.
