{"id":12324,"date":"2026-08-31T14:34:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-31T04:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irap.org\/?p=12324"},"modified":"2026-08-31T14:34:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-31T04:34:24","slug":"riding-into-the-future-experiencing-waymos-autonomous-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/nl\/riding-into-the-future-experiencing-waymos-autonomous-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Op weg naar de toekomst: een kennismaking met de autonome technologie van Waymo."},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Als onderdeel van iRAP&#039;s focus op het stimuleren van innovatie in technologie\u00ebn die veiligere, toegankelijkere en duurzamere 5-sterrenreizen mogelijk maken, hebben Rob McInerney, Chief of Future Impact van iRAP, en Suzy Charman, RAP Lead voor het Verenigd Koninkrijk, ritten gemaakt met Waymo in San Francisco en Atlanta, waarbij ze de technologie van autonome voertuigen zelf hebben ervaren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De reizen boden een inkijkje in hoe snel opkomende technologie\u00ebn de manier waarop mensen zich verplaatsen en omgaan met ons wegennet en de mensen die er gebruik van maken, kunnen veranderen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nu innovatie in een stroomversnelling raakt, werkt iRAP samen met bijna 160 partners wereldwijd om nieuwe technologie\u00ebn, kunstmatige intelligentie, data en verbonden technologie\u00ebn in te zetten om de vooruitgang te versnellen in de richting van de wereldwijde doelstelling om het aantal verkeersdoden en -gewonden tegen 2030 te halveren en tegen 2050 nul verkeersdoden te bereiken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>Suzy, directeur van de UK Road Safety Foundation, legde haar eerste volledig autonome Waymo-ervaring vast. Het was een geweldige ervaring, want &#039;we&#039; navigeerden veilig langs allerlei kruispunten en wegen, bouwplaatsen, andere voertuigen en, het allerbelangrijkste, iedereen die te voet, in een rolstoel of op de fiets onderweg was.<br><br>\u201cEen \u2018chauffeur\u2019 met volledige aandacht en een constant 360-gradenbeeld van wat er gaande is. Er rijden overal Waymo&#039;s rond en ik zag ze bij elke beslissing de veiligste keuze maken en tegelijkertijd naadloos opgaan in het overige verkeer. E\u00e9n moment sprong eruit: het voertuig sloeg rechtsaf bij een kruispunt en een fietser kwam van achteren aanrijden, precies in de dode hoek voor elke menselijke bestuurder. Waymo wachtte geduldig tot de fietser voorbij was en het kruispunt vrij was voordat het verder reed,\u201d aldus Rob.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Innovatie gaat snel en iRAP en haar partners werken samen om de veiligste route- en vervoerswijzekeuze te optimaliseren. Zo zorgen ze ervoor dat de wereldwijde iRAP-standaard naadloos aansluit op andere initiatieven van partners op het gebied van veiligheid, zoals FIA Foundation, Global NCAP, het Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP), de International Association of Public Transport (UITP), de F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Internationale de l&#039;Automobile (FIA) en anderen, om zo de wederzijdse voordelen van veiligere en duurzamere mobiliteit voor iedereen te realiseren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c&quot;Het is een ongelooflijk spannende wereld om deel van uit te maken,&quot; zei Rob. &quot;Bij iRAP hebben we het voorrecht om samen te werken met &#039;s werelds toonaangevende pioniers die de grenzen van technologie, data en mobiliteit verleggen om de veiligere, vijfsterrenreizen van morgen vorm te geven.
