Their Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) grant program provides funding for projects that save lives.<\/p>\n<p>The SS4A grant program is a major action that supports funding to advance the DOT\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.transportation.gov\/NRSS\">National Roadway Safety Strategy<\/a>, which launched in 2022 to address the high number of traffic deaths happening across the country.<\/p>\n<p>SS4A funds will help communities in the development of road safety action plans and improve unsafe roadway corridors by implementing effective interventions. Additionally, these funds can be utilized to test out safety features such as separated bicycle lanes or curb extensions at intersections.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Building a strong grant application is key.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This funding can prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries in the United States and <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/rap-tools\/\">RAP Tools<\/a> including Star Rating for Schools, the Youth Engagement App, CycleRAP and Star Rating for Designs Tools are freely available to support your projects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can RAP Tools help?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We have tools that can measure the safety\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/rap-tools\/infrastructure-ratings\/star-ratings\/\">Star Rating<\/a>\u00a0of roadways and school zones for pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and vehicle occupants before and after improvement and \u00a0inform evidence-based investment plans to eliminate high-risk road sections and prevent deaths and serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>School zone safety: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/\"><strong>Star Rating for Schools (SR4S)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>is an award-winning evidence-based programme of tools, training and support to measure, manage and communicate the risk children are exposed to on a journey to school.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Engaging young people: <\/strong>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/starratingforschools.org\/youth-engagement-app\/\"><strong>Youth Engagement App<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>is an innovative tool that allows young people to easily identify and report road safety conditions around their schools. YEA helps young people actively participate in improving road safety, giving them a voice in shaping their communities.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cycling infrastructure: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/cyclerap\/\"><strong>CycleRAP<\/strong><\/a> is an evidence-based risk assessment model specifically for bicycling and light mobility. It evaluates the safety of bike lanes and suggests improvements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Safer road design: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/star-rating-for-designs\/\"><strong>Star Rating for Designs (SR4D)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>is a package of tools, knowledge products, support and other initiatives so that roads are built safe, right from the start. It analyses the safety of new road designs <strong>before.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Building capacity within your team: <\/strong>We also have the ability to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/training\/\">train your staff<\/a><\/strong> and help build capacity within your projects teams to help deliver road assessments and provide evidence driven Safer Roads Investment Plans (SRIP).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Need help with writing the grant proposal?<\/strong> We are also able to provide <strong>guidance and helpful tips<\/strong> for your grant proposal.
