We received applications from 24 countries across Africa, with the successful recipients from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Cameroon, Eswantini, Rwanda, Tunisia, Ghana and Senegal.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants were from Road Safety NGO\u2019s, Universities and Government Agencies from both a national and local levels, and represented a varied level of experience \u2013 from recently graduated engineers, through to experienced engineers and high academic level professors.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the highlights nominated by the successful recipients on how they intend to use use their knowledge include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Save lives through change in the Road Safety engineer sector.<\/li>\n<li>Advocate to include iRAP methodology in the national plan.<\/li>\n<li>Teach iRAP methodology to their engineering students.<\/li>\n<li>Improve data collection and road assessments.<\/li>\n<li>Advocate to improve roads to meet a 3-star or better standard.<\/li>\n<li>Improve the design of roads they assess.<\/li>\n<li>Identify problematic areas and improve road safety.<\/li>\n<li>Build capacity of other stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Check and assess their road designs with ViDA and SR4D tools.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>We would like to thank all 202 applicants for their interest. The number of applications received demonstrates that there are more people in the road safety community ready and willing to work on road safety assessment and we look forward to supporting their growth in our #RAPCommunity. We are very grateful for the extraordinary support of the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiafoundation.org\/\">\u00a0FIA Foundation<\/a>\u00a0to make these opportunities possible.
