TanRAP is one of the key milestones of the Ten Step Plan for Safer Road Infrastructure Project,<\/a> aiming at building institutional capacity in the country and contributing to the Government of Tanzania efforts to reduce road injuries and fatalities in line with the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021 – 2030.<\/p>\n

On 14 September 2022, TanRAP funding and supporting organisations convened in Dar es Salaam to mark the launch of the project, chaired by Hon. Atupele Mwakibete, the Deputy Minister (Transport), Ministry of Works and Transport. Full press release can be found ici<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jointly funded by the\u00a0United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF)<\/a>\u00a0and by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (UKAid)<\/a>, through the\u00a0Global Road Safety Facility (GRSF)<\/a>\u00a0de la Banque mondiale<\/a>, the Ten Step Plan Tanzania is a 30-month project designed to meet the specific needs of Tanzania and build sustainable institutional capacity, impact and partnerships. Under the guidance of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)<\/a> the project is being implemented by a consortium led by the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration routi\u00e8re internationale (IRF)<\/a>, and includes the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP)<\/a>, le Association mondiale de la route (PIARC)<\/a> et le Tanzania Roads Association (TARA)<\/a>. The project has brought together the Government of Tanzania through MoWT<\/a>, TANROADS<\/a>, TARURA<\/a>, National Institute of Transport (NIT)<\/a>, and other leading institutions, NGOs and industry stakeholders in Tanzania.\u00a0<\/p>\n
