{"id":3031,"date":"2022-01-11T07:21:35","date_gmt":"2022-01-10T20:21:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/itf-report-the-future-of-motorway-safety-in-korea\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T12:39:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T02:39:48","slug":"itf-report-the-future-of-motorway-safety-in-korea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/fr\/itf-report-the-future-of-motorway-safety-in-korea\/","title":{"rendered":"Rapport de l&#039;ITF : L&#039;avenir de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 autorouti\u00e8re en Cor\u00e9e"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following engagement with 40 Korean road safety experts and organisations, and a review of best practice in 10 countries, the International Transport Forum (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.itf-oecd.org\/\">ITF<\/a>) has released a new report to guide improved motorway safety in Korea.<\/p>\n<p>The report, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.itf-oecd.org\/sites\/default\/files\/docs\/motorway-safety-korea.pdf\">Motorway Safety in Korea: Learning From International Best Practice for an Action Plan to 2030<\/a>, examines international best practice in motorway safety across Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States to determine which might be best suited to making Korea\u2019s motorways safer.<\/p>\n<p>The impact of motorway road injury is examined, along with current road safety management for safe road users, vehicles, road operations and post-crash response.<\/p>\n<p>Recommendations are offered for key local partners including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.molit.go.kr\/english\">MOLIT<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kotsa.or.kr\/eng\/main.do\">KOTSA<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/english.koti.re.kr\/\">KOTI<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.koroad.or.kr\/en_web\/index.do\">KoROAD<\/a> et le <a href=\"https:\/\/www.police.go.kr\/eng\/main.do\">Police Agency <\/a>for an action plan to 2030, taking into account the expected uptake of connected and automated vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Motorway crashes kill over 200 people in Korea each year. With 2.8 traffic deaths per billion vehicle-kilometres, Korean motorways have a significant margin of progress towards the safety performance observed in Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, whose motorway network fatality rates range from 0.9 to 1.7.<\/p>\n<p>Korea\u2019s motorway safety has improved steadily over the years but progress has stalled since 2015, highlighting further progress is possible.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Korea-pic.png\" alt=\"Korea pic\" \/><\/p>\n<p>iRAP Star Rating assessments have been conducted on 1,670km.<\/p>\n<p>Selon iRAP<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vaccinesforroads.org\/irap-big-data-tool\/\"> Outil de m\u00e9gadonn\u00e9es pour les vaccins routiers<\/a>, achieving &gt;75% of travel on 3-star or better roads for all road users by 2030 stands to save 1,100 lives per year in the country with an economic benefit of USD$122 billion.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Korea-BCSR.png\" alt=\"Korea BCSR\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This report is part of ITF\u2019s Case-Specific Policy Analysis series and was funded by Korea Expressway Corporation (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ex.co.kr\/\">KEC<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>En mai, une organisation intergouvernementale regroupant 66 pays membres a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e.
