If you missed the <a href=\"https:\/\/events.streamgo.live\/launch-of-the-global-plan-for-the-decade-of-action-for-road-safety-2021-2030\/register\">Launch<\/a> de la <a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.who.int\/media\/docs\/default-source\/documents\/health-topics\/road-traffic-injuries\/global-plan-for-road-safety.pdf?sfvrsn=65cf34c8_27&amp;download=true\">Plan mondial pour la deuxi\u00e8me d\u00e9cennie d&#039;action en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re<\/a> on Thursday 28 October it&#8217;s not too late to hear how safer road infrastructure will help to halve global road deaths and injuries by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The Plan was developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United Nations Regional Commissions, in cooperation with partners in the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration and other stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>It outlines the \u201cwhat to do, how to do it and who to do it\u201d to achieve the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/violence_injury_prevention\/road_traffic\/12GlobalRoadSafetyTargets.pdf\">12 objectifs mondiaux de performance en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re<\/a>, calling on governments and partners to implement the Safe Systems Approach in the creation and implementation of strategies and programmes for road safety, sustainable mobility and urban design.<\/p>\n<p>Safe road infrastructure is a key focus of the Plan, alongside safe road use, safe vehicles, multimodal transport and land-use planning, and post-crash response.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"et-button\" href=\"https:\/\/events.streamgo.live\/launch-of-the-global-plan-for-the-decade-of-action-for-road-safety-2021-2030\/live\">Regardez l&#039;enregistrement du lancement<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"et-button\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.who.int\/media\/docs\/default-source\/documents\/health-topics\/road-traffic-injuries\/global-plan-for-road-safety.pdf?sfvrsn=65cf34c8_27&amp;download=true\">T\u00e9l\u00e9charger le plan<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"et-button\" href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/fr\/2021\/10\/how-safe-roads-feature-in-global-plan-for-decade-of-action\/\">See how Safe Roads feature<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the <a href=\"https:\/\/events.streamgo.live\/launch-of-the-global-plan-for-the-decade-of-action-for-road-safety-2021-2030\/live\">Launch<\/a>, Dr Nhan Tran, Coordinator of Unintentional Injury at the World Health Organisation profiled safe road infrastructure of one of 5 areas of action, emphasizing the importance of standards and designs to ensure 3-star roads that are safe for all road users (<a href=\"https:\/\/events.streamgo.live\/launch-of-the-global-plan-for-the-decade-of-action-for-road-safety-2021-2030\/live\">see 19:00 minute mark<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/launch-image-1.jpg\" alt=\"launch image 1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lord George Robertson, Chairman of the Commission for Global Road Safety said he was proud of the initiatives the FIA Foundation has supported like iRAP, Global NCAP and our safe schools partnerships (<a href=\"https:\/\/events.streamgo.live\/launch-of-the-global-plan-for-the-decade-of-action-for-road-safety-2021-2030\/live\">see 56:50 minute mark<\/a>)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we begin the Second Decade of Action, all governments must step up with real commitments to provide minimum 3-star safety design standards for all highways, to support Streets for Life and low-speed liveable cities and to ensure that every child has a safe and healthy journey to school,\u201d Lord Robertson said.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/launch-image-4.jpg\" alt=\"launch image 4\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/launch-image-3.jpg\" alt=\"launch image 3\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/launch-image-2.jpg\" alt=\"launch image 2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In September 2020, the UN General Assembly adopted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/undocs.org\/en\/A\/RES\/74\/299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-sf-ec-immutable=\"\">resolution A\/RES\/74\/299<\/a>\u00a0\u201cImproving global road safety\u201d, proclaiming the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, with the ambitious target of preventing at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The Global Plan\u00a0aligns with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadsafetysweden.com\/about-the-conference\/stockholm-declaration\/\">D\u00e9claration de Stockholm<\/a>, by\u00a0emphasizing the importance of a holistic approach to road safety, and calling\u00a0on continued\u00a0improvements in\u00a0the design of roads and vehicles; enhancement of\u00a0laws and law enforcement; and provision of timely, life-saving emergency care for the injured.\u00a0The Global Plan also reflects the Stockholm Declaration\u2019s promotion of policies to promote walking, cycling and using public transport as inherently healthy and environmentally sound modes of transport.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdn.who.int\/media\/docs\/default-source\/documents\/health-topics\/road-traffic-injuries\/global-plan-for-road-safety.pdf?sfvrsn=65cf34c8_27&amp;download=true\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Global-Plan-infographic-What-How-Who-1024.jpg\" alt=\"Global Plan infographic - What How Who 1024\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>iRAP looks forward to supporting partners and governments as they draw on the Global Plan to develop and implement national and local action plans to halve global road deaths and injuries by 2030.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We love the new Global Plan!
