{"id":2808,"date":"2021-10-04T02:25:07","date_gmt":"2021-10-03T15:25:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/ian-gillespie-brings-mobility-experience-to-irap-board\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T12:38:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T02:38:14","slug":"ian-gillespie-brings-mobility-experience-to-irap-board","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/fr\/ian-gillespie-brings-mobility-experience-to-irap-board\/","title":{"rendered":"Ian Gillespie brings mobility experience to iRAP Board"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ian Gillespie AM has joined the iRAP Board bringing global mobility experience to the charity\u2019s governance.<\/p>\n<p>Based in Australia, Ian has been a great supporter of iRAP for many years through his previous role as the Group Chief Executive Officer of the local mobility club <a href=\"https:\/\/www.racq.com.au\/\">RACQ<\/a>.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/ausrap.aaa.asn.au\/\">AusRAP<\/a> advocacy work by RACQ has created multi-billion dollar road safety investments on the <a href=\"https:\/\/resources.irap.org\/General\/IRAP%20Bruce%20Highway%20Case%20Study.pdf\">Autoroute Bruce<\/a> and many other roads across Queensland.\u00a0 Ian has also played key roles in hosting the iRAP team in Australia and providing global support and leadership through the FIA network.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have long been a supporter of iRAP and its objectives and I am passionate about improving road safety and mobility through improved road design and infrastructure along with using data for better decision making to save lives, so I am very pleased to be joining the iRAP board and to work more closely with the team, \u201d Ian said on joining the Board.<\/p>\n<p>Along with his passion for road safety, Ian brings great skills to the iRAP Board including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Industrial relations, legal expertise (including experience as a barrister) and management qualifications<\/li>\n<li>13 years leading RACQ, a member owned mutual with assistance and insurance businesses, charitable RACQ Foundation and diversification into banking services through RACQ Bank<\/li>\n<li>Chair of the <a href=\"https:\/\/gmaconnect.org\/\">Global Mobility Alliance<\/a> a three-way partnership between AAA Australia, AAA\/CAA in North America, and ARC Europe representing 71 GMA clubs in 34 countries supporting more than 115 million members<\/li>\n<li>Numerous Director roles including RACQ Foundation, Australian Automobile Association, Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals, and Confederation of Australian Motorsport amongst others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On welcoming Ian to the Board, iRAP Chair Gary Liddle said, \u201cIan\u2019s wealth of experience running a successful member-owned mutual will help shape our partnerships for 2030 impact.\u00a0 His perspectives from running a charitable foundation and insurance business will also bring new insights to our work to reduce road trauma worldwide.\u00a0 As we shape important initiatives like Star Ratings for Designs (<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/fr\/star-rating-for-design\/\">SR4D<\/a>) et <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/fr\/project\/ai-rap\/\">AiRAP<\/a>, Ian will provide valuable strategic direction and governance for the charity\u2019s future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Le conseil d&#x27;administration et l&#x27;\u00e9quipe de iRAP souhaitent la bienvenue \u00e0 Olive et se r\u00e9jouissent de pouvoir compter sur son expertise pour fa\u00e7onner la bonne gouvernance et l&#x27;orientation strat\u00e9gique de l&#x27;association, alors que nous mettons en place les partenariats qui nous permettront d&#x27;avoir un impact d&#x27;ici 2030.<\/p>\n<p>For more details on iRAP\u2019s plan for the Second Decade of Action of Road Safety 2021-2030 see <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/fr\/2021\/05\/partnerships-for-2030-impact-irap-is-ready-for-the-2nd-decade-of-action-for-road-safety\/\">ici<\/a>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ian Gillespie AM has joined the iRAP Board bringing global mobility experience to the charity\u2019s governance.
