The 5-year agreement will facilitate collaboration between the IDB and iRAP to promote programs and projects to significantly improve the safety of the roads in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>Over 110,000 people were killed and more than 1 million were seriously injured in road crashes in Latin America in 2016, at a cost of USD$224 billion or 4.4 per cent of GDP (WHO, 2018).<\/p>\n<p>Ce partenariat aura pour objectif principal de r\u00e9duire de mani\u00e8re tangible le nombre d\u2019accidents de la route dans la r\u00e9gion de l\u2019Am\u00e9rique latine et des Cara\u00efbes et de contribuer \u00e0 la r\u00e9alisation des Objectifs de d\u00e9veloppement durable (ODD) et des Objectifs mondiaux de performance en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re, en particulier l\u2019Objectif 3 : \u201c D\u2019ici 2030, toutes les nouvelles routes respectent des normes techniques pour tous les usagers de la route qui tiennent compte de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re, ou obtiennent une note de trois \u00e9toiles ou plus \u201d ; et l\u2019Objectif 4 : \u201c D\u2019ici \u00e0 2030, plus de 75 % des d\u00e9placements sur les routes existantes s\u2019effectuent sur des routes respectant des normes techniques pour tous les usagers de la route qui tiennent compte de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re \u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement will pave the way to implement Road Assessment Programmes (RAPs), following the iRAP methodology in Latin America and the Caribbean, which will help reduce the number of casualties and serious injuries caused by road accidents in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Les travaux de iRAP et de la BID se concentreront \u00e9galement sur l'examen des m\u00e9thodes utilis\u00e9es pour \u00e9valuer les investissements ant\u00e9rieurs dans les infrastructures de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 routi\u00e8re et sur la fourniture de conseils et de recommandations pour les investissements futurs, en mettant l'accent sur les m\u00e9thodes de mesure de l'efficacit\u00e9 des programmes.
