Certification is a voluntary process and can be performed for vehicle occupants, motorcyclists, pedestrians and\/or bicyclists.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A road authority may request a Star Rating Certification for a length of highway that now achieves a minimum 3-Stars for vehicle occupants;<\/li>\n<li>A municipality may request a Star Rating Certification for the redesign of a street which achieves a 5-Stars for pedestrians and bicyclists; or<\/li>\n<li>A concession road operator may request Certification of the distribution of Star Ratings for vehicle occupants and motorcyclists across its network.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Certification can be provided for whole and decimal Star Ratings, for example certifying a safety improvement from 3.2 to 3.7 stars.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Star Rating Certification process, Star Rating results for the road or design will be reviewed by experts in the iRAP Team. The steps for Certification are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Applicant submits\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/253310939402452\">request for Star Rating Certification<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Application is received by iRAP and a technical, communications and financial plan is agreed with the applicant.<\/li>\n<li>Star Rating results are reviewed by experts in the iRAP Team.<\/li>\n<li>Certification is awarded.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_21  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<h3><strong>What is the fee for Certification and how long does it take?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The cost and time needed for Star Rating Certification may vary depending on several factors including length and complexity of the road or design, the quality of the original Star Rating assessment, availability of supporting documentation and communications activities. Generally, once a technical, communications and financial plan is agreed, the Certification process can be completed within 1 week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why do we charge a fee?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a charity, our lifesaving work is only made possible through the generosity of our donors. We also benefit greatly from the goodwill of many individuals and research organisations around the world who are committed to saving lives through safer roads.\u00a0 Fees for certification are vitally important in ensuring that these activities are sustainable and remain accessible to every country.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_22  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<h3><strong>How can Certification be celebrated?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Improvement in Star Ratings and achievement of Star Rating targets is to be celebrated! iRAP can assist in developing a communications plan to support promotion of the Star Rating Certification.
