Nuestro Gerente de Capacitaci\u00f3n y Acreditaci\u00f3n, Franco Azzato, se present\u00f3 recientemente como experto t\u00e9cnico ante el Parlamento uruguayo sobre el potencial vital de los chalecos airbag para motociclistas. Inform\u00f3 sobre las discusiones sobre una propuesta de ley que obligar\u00eda a los empleadores a proporcionarlos a los trabajadores que usan motocicletas en su trabajo diario, como repartidores y operadores de flotas.<\/p>\n<p>De acuerdo a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telenoche.com.uy\/nacionales\/proyecto-plantea-uso-obligatorio-chalecos-airbag-motociclistas-uruguay-n5384522\">datos de la Unidad Nacional de Seguridad Vial (UNASEV)<\/a>Los motociclistas representan el 49 por ciento de los muertos en accidentes de tr\u00e1nsito en Uruguay, y el 65 por ciento de los heridos.<\/p>\n<p>El se\u00f1or Azzato se present\u00f3 ante la C\u00e1mara de Diputados el 22 de mayo y brind\u00f3 una explicaci\u00f3n t\u00e9cnica detallada de la funcionalidad y los beneficios de seguridad de los sistemas de bolsas de aire para motocicletas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Citando a MAPFRE (2021), se\u00f1al\u00f3 que el 24 % de las lesiones mortales en accidentes de motocicleta afectan la regi\u00f3n tor\u00e1cica, no la cabeza. Si bien los cascos son indispensables, no ofrecen protecci\u00f3n integral.<\/li>\n<li>Las motocicletas carecen de sistemas de seguridad pasiva como cinturones de seguridad o airbags incorporados y, como resultado, los motociclistas son mucho m\u00e1s vulnerables a las fuerzas de impacto y a la transferencia de energ\u00eda en caso de accidente.<\/li>\n<li>Los chalecos con airbag reducen las fuerzas de desaceleraci\u00f3n que experimentan las zonas cr\u00edticas del torso durante un choque. Al ralentizar el impacto de forma m\u00e1s progresiva, ayudan a minimizar el traumatismo en el pecho y la espalda. Adem\u00e1s, los chalecos con airbag estabilizan la zona del cuello en coordinaci\u00f3n con el casco, lo que ayuda a prevenir el latigazo cervical.<\/li>\n<li>La implementaci\u00f3n de chalecos protectores puede dar resultados inmediatos. La tecnolog\u00eda ya est\u00e1 disponible y es accesible, pero la legislaci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n debe exigir el cumplimiento de est\u00e1ndares de seguridad de productos certificados.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>El trabajo del Sr. Azzato en iRAP complementa este \u00e1mbito, ya que las Calificaciones por Estrellas de iRAP ofrecen una medida objetiva del nivel de seguridad integrado en la infraestructura vial para motociclistas. Una carretera con 1 estrella es la menos segura, mientras que una con 5 estrellas es la m\u00e1s segura. Como parte de una evaluaci\u00f3n iRAP, se pueden generar Planes de Inversi\u00f3n en Carreteras m\u00e1s Seguras para identificar y priorizar espec\u00edficamente mejoras de infraestructura basadas en evidencia para mejorar la seguridad de los motociclistas.<\/p>\n<p>Los carriles exclusivos para motocicletas, la alineaci\u00f3n de la carretera, la resistencia al derrape y los peligros en la superficie, las disposiciones para adelantar y los peligros en la carretera son todos ejemplos de elementos de infraestructura que pueden afectar la seguridad.<\/p>\n<p>Para obtener m\u00e1s informaci\u00f3n sobre c\u00f3mo mejorar la seguridad de los motociclistas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consulte el Informe interactivo de iRAP sobre seguridad de infraestructura vial y veh\u00edculos motorizados de dos ruedas, que incluye datos de casi 500 000 km de carreteras con flujo de veh\u00edculos motorizados de dos ruedas (PTW) en m\u00e1s de 80 pa\u00edses.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/2024\/08\/new-data-on-infrastructure-safety-for-powered-two-wheelers-ptw\/\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>El informe permite a los usuarios filtrar los datos por pa\u00eds, regi\u00f3n, tipo de \u00e1rea, flujo y velocidad.<\/li>\n<li>Explore qu\u00e9 tan seguras son nuestras carreteras (a nivel mundial y nacional) para los motociclistas utilizando el Explorador de informaci\u00f3n de seguridad de iRAP <a href=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/safety-insights-explorer\/\">aqu\u00ed.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Compare la calificaci\u00f3n de costos y la efectividad de diferentes contramedidas de infraestructura para motociclistas en el Kit de herramientas iRAP <a href=\"https:\/\/toolkit.irap.org\/road-users\/motorcyclists\/\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>El Sr. Azzato es Ingeniero Industrial de la Universidad de Montevideo y, antes de incorporarse a iRAP, asesor\u00f3 al Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo en materia de seguridad de motociclistas.
