{"id":78869,"date":"2025-03-11T02:37:24","date_gmt":"2025-03-11T02:37:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/irap.org\/?p=78869"},"modified":"2025-04-11T02:39:14","modified_gmt":"2025-04-11T01:39:14","slug":"global-alliance-mobility-snapshots-report-ngos-highlight-dangerous-realities-on-our-streets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/es\/2025\/03\/global-alliance-mobility-snapshots-report-ngos-highlight-dangerous-realities-on-our-streets\/","title":{"rendered":"Informe de Movilidad de la Alianza Global: Las ONG destacan las peligrosas realidades en nuestras calles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[et_pb_section fb_built=&#8221;1&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; custom_margin=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; custom_padding=&#8221;0px||||false|false&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.4&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadsafetyngos.org\/events\/ngos-highlight-dangerous-realities-on-our-streets-on-eve-of-ministerial-conference\/\"><em>Original content from the Global Alliance\u00a0<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the lead up to the 4th Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety (Ministerial Conference) in Marrakech, Morocco, the Global Alliance of NGO&#8217;s published a new report: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadsafetyngos.org\/what-we-do\/resources\/publications\/?mc_cid=537d09449a&amp;mc_eid=UNIQID\"><em>Mobility Snapshots: using local data to turn dangerous realities into safe, people-centered streets<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The report draws together 118 \u2018Mobility Snapshots\u2019 from 44 countries, each assessing an intersection by counting the number of pedestrians using it, and whether simple but life-saving interventions such as 30 km\/h speed limits, pedestrian crossings and footpaths, and speed calming are present or lacking.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In total, 156,000 pedestrians used these 118 intersections during peak hour, yet key interventions to protect those who walk are lacking in many:<\/li>\n<li>102 lacked a speed limit of 30 km\/h or lower;<\/li>\n<li>106 lacked usable pedestrian crossings on all legs of the intersection;<\/li>\n<li>67 lacked usable footpaths on all legs of the intersection;<\/li>\n<li>102 lacked traffic calming to reduce vehicle speeds around pedestrians.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Mobility Snapshots leverages the iRAP Star Rating methodology to create snapshots \u2013 images and short video clips showcasing real commutes at high-risk intersections in different cities around the world. Using iRAP\u2019s Star Rating model, the images capture the safety of the roads environment, with a particular emphasis on pedestrian access and usage.<\/p>\n<p>The data reveals worrying gaps in pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and laws that save lives.<\/p>\n<p>The Alliance and its partners call on governments to listen to findings and solutions offered by NGOs based on their Mobility Snapshots.
