Una ambiciosa serie de proyectos de desarrollo de infraestructura no solo est\u00e1 alterando el paisaje f\u00edsico de la ciudad, sino que tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 marcando el comienzo de una nueva era de crecimiento econ\u00f3mico, mejora de la calidad de vida y mayor conectividad para los residentes de la ciudad. Sin embargo, el sistema de transporte de Dodoma necesita urgentemente mejoras. M\u00e1s del 80 por ciento de las carreteras de la ciudad todav\u00eda no est\u00e1n pavimentadas, lo que dificulta que los residentes viajen de manera fiable. Se necesita una infraestructura vial resiliente para reducir la vulnerabilidad a los impactos clim\u00e1ticos.<\/p>\n<p>El\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/projects.worldbank.org\/en\/projects-operations\/project-detail\/P176623\">Proyecto de Transporte Integrado y Sostenible de Dodoma (DIST)<\/a> ampliar\u00e1 cuatro carreteras arteriales que conectan el centro de la ciudad de Dodoma con otras partes del pa\u00eds al est\u00e1ndar internacional iRAP de 3 estrellas o superior. Estas carreteras, que actualmente tienen dos carriles, se expandir\u00e1n para incluir espacios separados para diferentes usuarios de la v\u00eda: autom\u00f3viles, autobuses, peatones y ciclistas.<\/p>\n<p>Se asignar\u00e1n cinco metros de espacio a cada lado de las carreteras para caminar y andar en bicicleta, con caracter\u00edsticas como bordillos inclinados y pavimentos texturizados para ayudar a las personas con discapacidades a desplazarse de forma segura.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto a\u00f1adir\u00e1 senderos para caminar y andar en bicicleta, iluminaci\u00f3n, mejoras de seguridad en \u00e1reas propensas a accidentes, cruces peatonales dedicados, elementos para reducir la velocidad del tr\u00e1fico en las intersecciones, drenaje y nuevas superficies de carretera donde sea necesario. Completar\u00e1 los eslabones perdidos en la red actual, conectando carreteras, parques y \u00e1reas verdes.<\/p>\n<p>El proyecto constar\u00e1 de dos componentes: la creaci\u00f3n de 45,1 km de corredores multimodales y una red de 60 km de v\u00edas para peatones y ciclistas resistentes al cambio clim\u00e1tico. Beneficiar\u00e1 a m\u00e1s de 430 000 residentes (m\u00e1s de la mitad de la poblaci\u00f3n de la ciudad, incluidas 222 000 mujeres y 81 700 j\u00f3venes) y generar\u00e1 oportunidades econ\u00f3micas mediante la creaci\u00f3n de m\u00e1s de 10 000 nuevos puestos de trabajo para 2030, al tiempo que impulsar\u00e1 la producci\u00f3n econ\u00f3mica de la ciudad en un 21 %.<\/p>\n<p>En 2016, el Gobierno de Tanzania renov\u00f3 su compromiso con la decisi\u00f3n de 1973 de trasladar la capital nacional de Dar es Salaam a Dodoma. Esto implic\u00f3 una importante inversi\u00f3n de capital y la reubicaci\u00f3n de agencias y departamentos gubernamentales a Dodoma. Desde entonces, el cambio ha impulsado un r\u00e1pido crecimiento.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa r\u00e1pida expansi\u00f3n de Dodoma desde 2016 presenta tanto oportunidades como desaf\u00edos\u201d, dijo Nathan Belete, Director de Divisi\u00f3n del Banco Mundial para Malawi, Tanzania, Zambia y Zimbabue. \u201cA medida que la ciudad crece, garantizar el acceso a un transporte seguro y eficiente es fundamental para mantener su impulso econ\u00f3mico y mejorar la calidad de vida de sus residentes.
