{"id":3290,"date":"2022-06-22T02:26:39","date_gmt":"2022-06-21T16:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/celebrating-20-years-of-fia-foundation-impact-including-irap\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T12:39:56","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T02:39:56","slug":"celebrating-20-years-of-fia-foundation-impact-including-irap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/es\/celebrating-20-years-of-fia-foundation-impact-including-irap\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating 20 years of FIA Foundation impact, including iRAP"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We congratulate our major donor The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiafoundation.org\/\">Fundaci\u00f3n FIA<\/a> on its 20 Year Anniversary and inspiring global impact, including safer roads through its creation and ongoing support of iRAP.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA Foundation was created in 2001 as an act of great foresight and generosity. \u00a0It was decided that proceeds from the lease sale of Federation Internationale de l\u2019Automobile (FIA)\u2019s commercial rights to Formula One should be used to permanently endow a new charity dedicated to road safety, sustainable transport and motor sport safety.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA Foundation was born, and among many ground-breaking initiatives was the establishment of iRAP and the Global New Car Assessment Programme to transform the safety of roads and vehicles.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/FIAF-impact-1024.jpg\" alt=\"FIAF impact 1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>FIA Foundation&#8217;s impact since 2001 (as at December 2021)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The evolution of the European and then International Road Assessment Programme from an initial club-led cluster of research projects into a global organisation working with major development bank partners was enabled by core Foundation funding.<\/p>\n<p>iRAP CEO Rob McInerney said, \u201cThanks to the FIA Foundation and their great work over 20 years, \u00a0iRAP has been able to help partners in more than 100 countries save lives with safer roads.\u00a0 FIAF\u2019s donor support has allowed iRAP to create catalytic change with more than $80bn of road investment leveraged and made safer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more on the philanthropy\u2019s two decades of success, including iRAP, shared in its report \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiafoundation.org\/media\/2baotnrc\/20th-anniversary-pages.pdf\">FIA Foundation 20 Years: 2001-2021<\/a>\u201d and video <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/update\/urn:li:activity:6878712223464779777\/?commentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Acomment%3A(ugcPost%3A6878712223003422720%2C6945116678653382656)&amp;dashCommentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Afsd_comment%3A(6945116678653382656%2Curn%3Ali%3AugcPost%3A6878712223003422720)\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>See iRAP\u2019s 20 year impact in the First Decade of Action in our digital feature <a href=\"https:\/\/spark.adobe.com\/page\/fT6ivelM3Ishr\/\">aqu\u00ed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The FIA Foundation\u2019s anniversary was celebrated in London with a forum on Safe and Healthy Mobility entitled \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fia.com\/news\/fia-foundation-celebrates-its-20th-anniversary\">Design for Life. For People &amp; Planet<\/a>\u2019. The Forum brought together international policymakers to review progress in meeting the UN global targets to reduce road deaths and serious injuries ahead of the first-ever <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/pga\/76\/event\/high-level-meeting-on-global-road-safety\/\">UN High Level Meeting on Road Safety<\/a> and to discuss air quality improvement and decarbonisation of road transportation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/DfL-1024.jpg\" alt=\"DfL 1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Read more on the FIA Foundation Anniversary event &#8220;Design for Life.
