iRAP and its partners have developed a suite of tools<\/a> that use the iRAP methodology to support the Global Plan for Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030<\/a>, which sets a target of 50% reduction in road deaths and injuries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

These RAP Tools also support the achievement of\u00a0Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)<\/a> 3.6 and 11.2,\u00a0and Global Road Safety Performance Targets 3 and 4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The new menu of RAP Tools on the iRAP website highlights the range of options available to the RAP community across the world and brings clarity to what can be used, when it can be used and how it relates to the iRAP methodology.<\/p>\n

The suite of tools can be used at all stages of a road\u2019s lifecycle, and each tool will help to achieve Global Road Safety Performance Target 3<\/a> \u2013 \u2018By 2030, all new roads achieve technical standards for all roads that take into account road safety, or meet a 3-star rating or better\u2019<\/em>, y Global Road Safety Performance Targets 4<\/a>\u2013 \u2018By 2030, more than 75% of travel on existing roads is on roads that meet technical standards for all road users that take into account road safety\u2019. <\/em>According to the technical guidance, Target 4 may be measured as a percentage of travel that is on existing roads that meet a 3-star rating or better for all road users.<\/p>\n

The tools range from Calificaciones por estrellas<\/a> – An objective measure of the level of safety \u2018built-in\u2019 to roads and designs for vehicle occupants, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians, to Vaccines for Roads<\/a> – which includes business cases for investment, examples of how crashes affect real people and statistics on the world\u2019s roads, to DRIVER<\/a> – an open-source crash data system developed by the World Bank that can link with iRAP Star Ratings.<\/p>\n

The iRAP methodology and related tools are overseen by the\u00a0Global Technical Committee (GTC)<\/a>\u00a0and managed within the\u00a0Innovation Framework<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u200bThe GTC, made up of experts from leading road safety organisations and research agencies worldwide, governs the development of the iRAP methodology, considers the latest road safety research and oversees the technical integrity of the use of the methodology around the world.<\/p>\n

Apart from the tools developed by iRAP which can be applied globally, tools developed with iRAPs partners that use the iRAP methodology are known as RAPapps<\/em> o Made Safer by iRAP<\/em> apps. These fit-for-purpose applications that often meet local or organisation-specific needs are managed within the iRAP Innovation Framework.<\/p>\n

There is a range of training<\/a> y accreditation<\/a> opportunities also available to support the RAP tools, to build on the knowledge and skills to use the iRAP methodology and tools, and ensure iRAP assessments are performed to the same consistency high level of quality worldwide.<\/p>\n

The RAP Tools menu is example of how iRAP continues to work with partners worldwide to make sure that new roads are safe and that there is investment in improving high-risk existing roads on a scale that matters. Together, we can ensure that every journey is safe for everyone.<\/p>\n
