iRAP se enorgulleci\u00f3 de participar la semana pasada en la Segunda Conferencia Mundial de Transporte Sostenible de la ONU junto con la Colaboraci\u00f3n de la ONU para la Seguridad Vial (UNRSC<\/a>) miembros, la Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de Carreteras (IRF<\/a>) y iRAP organizando un evento paralelo y el director ejecutivo de iRAP, Rob McInerney, presentando junto con Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director general de la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud y Jean Todt, enviado especial de la ONU para la seguridad vial durante la Sesi\u00f3n Tem\u00e1tica 6 en la sesi\u00f3n principal de la conferencia.<\/p>\n

La Conferencia cont\u00f3 con la presencia de 7 Jefes de Estado, 50 Ministros y m\u00e1s de 500 asistentes presenciales, adem\u00e1s de miles m\u00e1s que participaron virtualmente procedentes de 171 pa\u00edses del mundo.<\/p>\n

El Segunda Conferencia Mundial de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Transporte Sostenible<\/a> Del 14 al 16 de octubre, se celebr\u00f3 en Pek\u00edn, China, y tambi\u00e9n en l\u00ednea. La Conferencia brind\u00f3 la oportunidad de centrar la atenci\u00f3n en las oportunidades, los desaf\u00edos y las soluciones para lograr un transporte sostenible a nivel mundial. Dio continuidad a la primera Conferencia Mundial sobre Transporte Sostenible, celebrada en 2016 en Ashgabat, Turkmenist\u00e1n, y tuvo como objetivo trazar un camino a seguir para que el transporte sostenible contribuya a alcanzar los objetivos de la Agenda 2030 para el Desarrollo Sostenible y el Acuerdo de Par\u00eds sobre el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

El Decenio de Acci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Seguridad Vial 2021-2030 ha sido proclamado por la Resoluci\u00f3n A\/RES\/74\/299 de las Naciones Unidas con el objetivo de reducir las muertes y lesiones por accidentes de tr\u00e1nsito en al menos 501.000 millones de personas para 2030. Con el lanzamiento de la Plan del Decenio de Acci\u00f3n de las Naciones Unidas para la Seguridad Vial<\/a> Este evento paralelo del UNRSC, programado oficialmente para el 28 de octubre de 2021 y coordinado por el IRF y el iRAP, impuls\u00f3 el lanzamiento y brind\u00f3 informaci\u00f3n relevante sobre el papel de la reducci\u00f3n de los accidentes de tr\u00e1nsito en el apoyo al transporte y el desarrollo sostenibles. El evento se estructur\u00f3 en torno a los 12 Objetivos Mundiales de Desempe\u00f1o en Seguridad Vial, en consonancia con la Sesi\u00f3n Tem\u00e1tica 5 sobre Pol\u00edticas para el Transporte Sostenible. Tambi\u00e9n se incluy\u00f3 un enfoque espec\u00edfico en la financiaci\u00f3n del transporte seguro y sostenible como un importante facilitador de la acci\u00f3n en apoyo de los 12 Objetivos.

De cara al futuro, iRAP est\u00e1 apoyando a sus socios globales (gobiernos, bancos de desarrollo, clubes de movilidad, industria, instituciones de investigaci\u00f3n y ONG de seguridad vial) para lograr Objetivos 3 y 4 de la ONU<\/a>\u00a0que incluyen garantizar que todas las carreteras nuevas se construyan con un est\u00e1ndar de 3 estrellas o superior para todos los usuarios de la carretera (Objetivo 3), y que m\u00e1s de 751 TP8T de viajes se realicen en carreteras equivalentes a 3 estrellas o superiores para todos los usuarios de la carretera para 2030 (Objetivo 4).<\/p>\n

Lograr que m\u00e1s del 75 por ciento de los viajes se realicen en carreteras de 3 estrellas o superiores para 2030 podr\u00eda salvar aproximadamente 450.000 vidas cada a\u00f1o y 100 millones de muertes y lesiones graves durante los 20 a\u00f1os de vigencia de los tratamientos.<\/h3>\n

iRAP ha obtenido el estatus consultivo ante el Consejo Econ\u00f3mico y Social de las Naciones Unidas (ECOSOC), el estatus m\u00e1s alto que otorgan las Naciones Unidas a las organizaciones no gubernamentales (ONG), lo que les permite participar en la labor de las Naciones Unidas.<\/p>\n
