{"id":2303,"date":"2020-11-22T23:25:04","date_gmt":"2020-11-22T12:25:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.temp.irap-dev.org\/indiarap-news-first-nhai-assessment-underway-across-3-states\/"},"modified":"2026-04-30T12:37:58","modified_gmt":"2026-04-30T02:37:58","slug":"indiarap-news-first-nhai-assessment-underway-across-3-states","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/irap.org\/es\/indiarap-news-first-nhai-assessment-underway-across-3-states\/","title":{"rendered":"IndiaRAP News: First NHAI Assessment Underway Across 3 States"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Pictured above and right: NHAI PIU office team prepare to commence the survey<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/indiarap.org\/\">IndiaRAP\u2019s<\/a> first NHAI project Star Rating 2,400 carriageway km of national highways across 3 states is underway in a bid to address escalating road deaths and injuries in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>The project will assess 791 km of dual-carriageway highways in Uttar Pradesh, 188km in Tamil Nadu and 309km in Maharashtra, and identify safety treatments and Safer Roads Investment Plans (SRIP) to save lives.<\/p>\n<p>IndiaRAP is working in partnership with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Road Safety Cell and 9 Project Implementation Units (PIU), 3 survey teams working simultaneously across the states, and 2\u00a0<a>iRAP accredited suppliers<\/a>\u00a0(Indian Road Survey and Management Pvt. Ltd. and GeoVista Technologies Pvt. Ltd.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-09-23-at-21.42.25-768x1024-1.jpeg\" alt=\"WhatsApp-Image-2020-09-23-at-21.42.25-768x1024\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The project, due for completion in February 2021, will involve:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Road surveys and supporting data collection including traffic volume count, speed surveys and road crash data as available;<\/li>\n<li>The production of detailed reports for each road including assessment results and recommended safety treatments;<\/li>\n<li>Training workshops to share the findings and recommendations with NHAI; and<\/li>\n<li>Implementation support for the preparation of customized SRIPs and prioritized steps for action.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>.
