The discussion examined what widens access in practice across Asia and the Pacific: closing first- and last-mile gaps, strengthening rural\u2013urban connectivity, keeping walking, cycling, and public transport within reach of low-income and underserved communities, applying universal design, and planning for personal safety and security. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-8f761849 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/sdgs.un.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2026-09\/Transport_Webinar_trainingseries_programme_FocusArea_1_CLEAN.pdf\">Consulte el programa.<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Hosted by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the session explored the support available to act on those approaches, including the ADB Green Roads Toolkits and capacity-building initiatives and knowledge products from the Walk21 Foundation, the International Road Federation, the International Association of Public Transport, the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, and FIKA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Participants heard how the 82 Sustainable Transport Action Commitments, launched with the Decade in December 2025, are being put to work, and how implementers can engage with the institutions behind them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alice Yiu, Head of Advocacy and Outreach of the International Road Federation (IRF) shared the joint commitment of a coalition of global partners led by the IRF, and including iRAP, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arup.com\/\">Arup<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ntro.org.au\/\">Organizaci\u00f3n Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n del Transporte de Australia (NTRO)<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.roadsafetyngos.org\/\">Alianza mundial de ONG para la seguridad vial<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fidic.org\/\">Federaci\u00f3n Internacional de Ingenieros Consultores (FIDIC)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oris-connect.com\/en\/\">ORIS<\/a>\u00a0y\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wwf.org.au\/\">Fondo Mundial para la Naturaleza<\/a> , Con el objetivo de acelerar la transici\u00f3n hacia sistemas viales m\u00e1s inclusivos, seguros, ecol\u00f3gicos y eficientes para todos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As part of the commitment, a Roadmaps for Change series will be published outlining policy actions, technical standards and tools, replicable practices, innovation and indicators of progress, helping countries and institutions to benchmark their efforts and identify practical next steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">iRAP is leading on the Roadmap for Safer Road Infrastructure due for launch later this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"441\" data-id=\"12503\" src=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DoST-webinar-1-image-1024x441.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12503\" srcset=\"https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DoST-webinar-1-image-1024x441.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DoST-webinar-1-image-300x129.jpg 300w, https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DoST-webinar-1-image-766x330.jpg 766w, https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DoST-webinar-1-image-18x8.jpg 18w, https:\/\/irap.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/DoST-webinar-1-image.jpg 1440w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For iRAP and our global partner network, safe roads are a must in achieving the Decade goals. A genuinely sustainable transport system protects everyone that uses it.
