SUMMARY:Africa Regional Road Safety Seminar
DESCRIPTION:In October\, we were delighted to be support the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) and the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS)\, in association with the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA)\, to organise the Africa Regional Road Safety Seminar (8-9 October) in Nairobi. \nOver the two full days\, the agenda will included leading topics in the current road safety conversation for Africa\, and was designed to give participants a deeper understanding of effective\, evidence-based interventions which can be applied towards achieving the goals of the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030 in the region. \n			\n				\n				\n				\n				\n				iRAP hosted three sessions: \n\nStar Ratings for a Road Network\, Tuesday 8 October\, 13.00 – 15.00 hoursThis interactive session saw using the Star Rating Demonstrator to assess the safety of different road scenarios for vehicle occupants\, motorcyclists\, pedestrians and bicyclists\, and devise improved road designs. \nImplementing Safer Roads: Challenges and Opportunities\, Wednesday 9 October\, 10.30 – 12.00 hoursThis panel discussion will focussed on real-world challenges and opportunities for implementing safe infrastructure in Africa\, followed by break out groups to consider issues at national / state / local levels.\nWalkshop: Star Ratings for Schools and Youth Engagement\, Wednesday 9 October\, 13.00 – 15.00 hoursThis Interactive\, hands-on session took participants to the roadside to use the Star Rating for Schools (SR4S) App and the Youth Engagement App (YEA) to assess the safety of a journey to school.\n\n			\n				Download the programme\n			\n				Read Event Summary hereb

DESCRIPTION:Road authorities and iRAP partners in Europe will come together from 4 to 5 September in Brussels to share best practice and strategies for achieving ambitious national\, European and global road safety targets. \nWith the theme “Half way to 2030: Gearing up for Safer Mobility in Urban and Rural Environments“\, the two-day iRAP-hosted event will focus on the necessary management\, prioritisation\, design and finance of safe road infrastructure improvements in rural and urban contexts to achieve the 2030 goals. \nThe second half of the Decade of Action to Road Safety 2021-2030 will be critical for managing increasingly challenging fiscal environments to unlock high impact funding strategies and outcomes for sustainable transport and public health.
