Launch of the WHO Save LIVES package

On 8 May the World Health Organisation will launch a road safety technical package which details 22 key evidence -based measures considered most likely to impact on road traffic deaths and serious injuries.

The Save LIVES package focuses on the simple, proven and cost-effective interventions to Save LIVES, including:

  • Speed Management
  • Leadership on road safety
  • Infrastructure design and improvement
  • Vehicle safety standards
  • Enforcement of traffic laws
  • Survival after the crash

The work led by WHO, and involving a collaboration of many world experts including iRAP, provides the silver bullets to Save LIVES. By applying the 22 proven measures – on scale – countries can challenge the status quo and truly make progress towards halving of road deaths and injuries by 2020.
